Why do we use LED grow lights instead of high pressure sodium?

We use Black star LED Grow lights in the 240w - 600w range because they give numerous benefits over high intensity discharge lights, especially inside grow boxes. HID lights often cause house fires because they get extremely hot, and when they are confined to a grow box heat build up can be extremely dangerous! LEDs give off only a tiny bit of heat, and save hundreds on power bills all while outperforming HID lights for both flowering and vegetation. With LEDs you can use Co2 very easily because the ventilation fans can be turned off without the inside of the grow box getting too hot! Try that with HPS and you will have a dead crop! Dont be left behind, LEDs are the future of growing, and we guarantee excellent results!

What makes the skunk series different from other grow systems?

Besides top of the line lights and growing equipment, the skunk series come fully insulated with mylar which is the most reflective material available today. We install a SCROG screen (Screen of green) which will greatly increase your overall yields! **PLEASE RESEARCH the power of SCROG** We install light trapping devices over the rear ventilation holes to significantly reduce the amount of light which shines out of the box, and prevents Co2 from escaping the grow box. We also install a Velcro light shield over the front of the grow box to make the system nearly 100% light tight. Ventilation fans consist of ultra silent 80mm fans for increased secrecy. This system comes with a built in power module so you can easily plug in all devices in one spot. What do I need to do to set up the grow box?

Simply unpack the box, hang the lights, and plug it in. Its really that simple. We get everything ready to go before shipment so you can have the system up and running in less than 5 minutes! Everything you will need for your entire grow is included!

Should I get the Co2 Bucket with this system?

Co2 will greatly enhance your yields and quality of your crop. Once you try co2 you wont want to grow without it. Co2 is like puting your plants on steroids. We supply you with two options of co2 infusion; co2 bucket system and co2 tank and regulator. Overall the co2 tank and regulator is the best way to go but you must refill the tank every 3 months or so at either a local hydro shop or welding supply store for about $20. The co2 bucket system is good for people who are not near a co2 refill facility, but the bucket system has two drawbacks. First you need to refill the bucket every 2-3 month which costs over $100. Second you cannot get as accurate amounts of co2 in the grow box as you can with the tank and regulator. The bucket system may be initially less expensive but the co2 tank and regulator will save you money over the long run. It is also important to note that co2 will only need to be released when the lights are on.

Should I go with hydro or soil?

Hydro is definitely a great way to grow and maximize yields. You can fine tune the amount of nutrients your plants get and you can easily control the ph levels. Hydroponics can also be a bit overwhelming for the new grower, which is why we typically recommend new growers start with soil. Soil is more forgiving than hydroponics, and overall there is less work involved.

Do I need a carbon filter?

A carbon filter is highly recommended if you are concerned about smell. The carbon filter and inline fan is the best way to eliminate unwanted odor in your home. The optional 4" carbon filter will clear an entire house of any unwanted odor in a matter of hours.
